While Veikkaus acknowledges employment reduction, Casino Tampere is fired.

 Prior to the termination of its gambling monopoly in Finland, Veikkaus plans to reduce its personnel by around 25% and split its business into three separate units.
 Veikkaus Casino Tampere After the operator completed staff talks, Veikkaus indicated that "about 185-215" of its 825 employees would lose their employment.  Additionally, "about 110-150" workers will see significant modifications to their employment terms.

 Less than two years after the establishment's opening, the operator also declared that Casino Tampere would close on December 9.

 19 further gaming arcades will close on December 22 following the conclusion of discussions with staff representatives.

 Veikkaus divides its activities into three divisions.
 Veikkaus will essentially be divided into three operating sections under the more extensive modifications, each of which will be headed by a senior vice president.

 Currently serving as chief operating officer of business operations, Nora Vähävirta will be in charge of domestic slot machines, arcades, and games of chance.  Jarkko Nordlund, who became executive director of Veikkaus in September, will oversee domestic internet gambling and casino activities in the meantime.

 Veikkaus has just hired Jonas Reuter, who will oversee the operator's global operations.  In September, Reuter, a former executive at Scientific Games and IGT, was named EVP, International Business Area.

 Layoffs are less severe than anticipated.
 Veikkaus will be making significant staffing adjustments in the near future, but they are not as drastic as initially thought.

 Veikkaus issued a warning that up to 240 jobs could be eliminated when restructuring negotiations started in September.  An further 195 individuals were also expected to experience changes in their employment.

 According to executive vice-president of human resources Heli Lallukka, "constructive dialogue with personnel representatives" led to the finalisation of "smaller final figures."

 "We will be making significant investments to strengthen our competitiveness in the coming years," Lallukka continued.  We are already really professional.  However, in the future, we will also want expertise from outside the organisation.

 By the end of this year, the precise dates of the employment adjustments will be decided.

 Closings of arcades
 There are now 65 gaming establishments run by Veikkaus in Finland, including Casino Tampere, which has about 80 employees.

 Joensuu Siltakatu, Helsinki Redi, Lappeenranta IsoKristiina, Espoo Ainoa, and Pori Puuvilla are among the Playhouse-branded establishments where game arcade operations will cease.  Helsinki's Lempäälä Ideapark, Playhouse Lahti Trio, Imatra Mansikkala  Turku Skanssi, Lappeenranta Leiri, Mikkeli Akseli, Hämeenlinna Goodman, and Kaisaniemi will close.

 Additionally, the Veikkaus-branded arcades in Helsinki Tripla, Kuopio Kästyökatu, and Turku Aurakatu will close.  Along with the Game Room at Tornio Raja, the Pelaamo Seinäjoki Ideapark and Oulu Kauppurienkatu operations will also shut down in December.

 Finland's monopoly model is ending
 As part of extensive changes, the Finnish government declared in June that Veikkaus' gaming monopoly would be abolished by 2026.

 By directing more customers to authorised operators, the main goal is to lessen the negative social and economical effects of gambling.  About half of all gaming in the nation takes place on unauthorised platforms, per a research published in April.

 Private businesses would be able to seek for licenses to operate online casinos and sports betting under the proposed new system.  Veikkaus would continue to hold a monopoly on both the retail slot machines and the lottery.

 Veikkaus will, nevertheless, be divided into distinct businesses within the same organisation.  This would undo a 2017 merger between horse race betting company Fintoto, slot machine company Raha-automaattiyhdistys, and betting brand Veikkaus.
