Danish gambling authority Casino Copenhagen has been censured by Spillemyndigheden for breaking parts of the nation's Money Laundering Act.

The regulator listed several shortcomings, including as a deficiency in risk assessments and flaws in the company's policy.
The first reprimand addressed infractions of the Act's section 7, subsection 1. The regulator concluded that Casino Copenhagen's evaluation of their possible business risks was "incomplete," indicating that several aspects, such as payment methods and customer categories, were not sufficiently risk assessed.
The absence of documented business practices was the subject of Failures B and C. There were no detailed instructions on how to complete business-related duties at Casino Copenhagen. Procedures pertaining to duty of investigation, customer due diligence, and politically exposed individuals were lacking. Similarly, reprimand C was given since it was unable to verify if the operator had the proper rules in place due to the casino's lack of "sufficient" material.
According to Reprimand D, Casino Copenhagen's employee education materials were "of a general nature" and lacked adequate anti-money laundering knowledge.
Section 35 of the Act was the subject of the last flaw. It addressed the issue of Casino Copenhagen's whistleblower program's lack of anonymity, which might have deterred staff members from coming forward.
Additionally, Spillemyndigheden ordered Casino Copenhagen to amend its risk assessment procedures to including evaluating winnings confirmation.
The regulator emphasised that since Casino Copenhagen had already submitted an updated risk assessment, business procedures, policies, instructional materials, and a whistleblower mechanism, the casino was under no duty to take action in response to the prosecutions.
Nonetheless, Casino Copenhagen needs to provide a revised risk assessment that takes winnings confirmation into account.
"The Money Laundering Act's rules on risk assessment, business procedures, policies, teaching materials, and the whistleblower scheme are very basic," the Gambling Authority stated in a statement, adding that breaking the rules is a clear first step towards injunction, reprimand, or, in extreme or persistent cases, police reporting.
German operator Tipwin was reported to police by Spillemyndigheden last week for breaking Denmark's Money Laundering Act.
